Slippers Drive - Fundraiser

It is common that somtimes we take things for granted and it may sound trivial. But for some, it could be a luxury to even be able to wear a pair of slippers.

We might have seen poor people wearing different slippers in each feet, shabby and worn out slippers. It's such a common sight in developing countries. We have accepted this and normalized it. One statistic says that there are about 300 Million children without shoes. Many times we blame it on fate or destiny and we move on. As a civilized society it is our rightful duty to be concerned about such conditions and take action to change the situation.

Did you know that there is a "One Day Without Shoes Day". This is a day to think about and help people in adject poverty who can't even afford a pair of Slippers. It is pretty interesting to know how this day came into existence.

When the owner of Tom Shoes, Mr.Blake Mycoskie was visiting Argentina in 2006, noticed that many children were barefooted. He also understood the many problems that arises our of not wearing footwear such as cuts and woulds and infection. So Mr.Blake wanted to help childre only only there but in many developing nations and he started looking for a way how his shoe company could help. He introduce a "One for One" business model. For every pair of shoes he sold, he provided one new pair of shoes free to the childern in Argentina. This way in October 2006, the first ten thousand pairs of Mr.Blake's shoes were distributed to those children.

It started with Mr.Blake but many Blakes are needed today to curb this situation.

We have just discovered a community of tribal children who don't have slippers. We have planned to distribute slippers in the week of 20-26 June. We are looking for Blakes to help us in this initiative.

Please contribute latest by Monday, 20th June '22.
